Ruthie Edgerly Oberg

Events Speaker and Administrative Coordinator, Flowers Pentecostal Heritage Center

Ruthie Edgerly Oberg was born and raised in the Houston, Texas metro area. Ruthie, a Central Bible College graduate and ordained Assemblies of God minister, is well-known for her work in the Women in Ministry Network. She is a fourth generation Pentecostal and fifth generation Preacher’s Kid with roots in both the Assemblies of God and the Pentecostal Church of God. Experiencing a call to ministry when she was 15, God immediately began opening doors for her in small churches in the Houston area. She was the first female to take the top award in the preaching category of the Oral Roberts University Educational Fellowship when she was just 17. Afterwards,she went on to serve in senior and associate pastoral roles for 25 years. In June 2016, Ruthie moved to Springfield began work at the Flowers Pentecostal Heritage Center. Her articles have appeared in the Pentecostal Evangel, Enrichment, Influence, and Assemblies of God Heritage, and she is a regular contributor to “This week in AG History” for AG News.

 Ruthie and husband, Shawn, have been married since 1989. Shawn is also an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and, together, they pastored in the Iowa District.

The Obergs have three children and one granddaughter. In her spare time, Ruthie enjoys running an AirBnB and helping to catalog books for churches and schools in the States and abroad. She is an avid traveler and has visited 17 countries on missions trips or historical study tours, including recently helping to set up the remainder of the Central Bible College library at West Africa Advanced School of Theology in Lome, Togo.
